The Season is in Full Swing!
1st Race of 2023: The King of All Crits
For those of you who don’t know Sunny King is a one-day event located in Anniston, Alabama. Which is apparently home to the world's largest office chair? Who knew?! This course has always been a favorite of mine. A fast 4-corner course with a slightly uphill finish! We were heading into the day with excitement and ready to race hard. While the race didn’t go exactly as planned, that’s the nature of crits. Despite the setbacks, Mariana was able to secure a top 10 in the final sprint!
As soon as the race was over, we rushed to the hospital to provide support and, of course, food for our teammates. As a close-knit team, we knew the importance of being there for each other, both on and off the bike!
Feels like Home! Easton/Plainfield/Somerville
If you’ve never been to Easton, Pennsylvania, I would highly recommend a visit! I would call it one of the most charming cities in the US, if not the most. Every time I come to race, I find myself welcomed by its friendly people and the picturesque downtown area. I even catch myself browsing the Zillow listings for potential homes. Our goal for the weekend was clear: race aggressively and focus on our lead-out. The races over the Memorial Day weekend provided the perfect opportunity to work on our strategy. Throughout the weekend, we executed our plan which resulted in winning multiple primes and having multiple podium finishes. Aside from our results, we were able to build a strong race chemistry within the team. We communicated seamlessly, feeding off each other’s energy and working together like a well-oiled machine.
Between the races, we took time to explore the quaint little community in Easton, PA. The Easton Public Market became our go-to spot to hang out and get some tasty food! We started off this small race block with a community ride with great people and followed with a WTF pizza party filled with lots of laughter and great conversation! I find these events always fun and constructive; I get to ride around some of the most scenic areas and build relationships with some rad people. Overall, this was a successful weekend on and off the bike, and looking forward to reuniting with the team this weekend at Tulsa Tough!
